Branson Airport

Well, construction has finally begun on Branson Airport. No we do not mean the Springfield-Branson Airport, which is located in Springfield Missouri. We mean the Branson Regional Airport or the Branson Airport. This airport is a private airport.

The plans have been underway for some time. The old blog relating to the airport can be found at http://www.bransonair.net/about.htm. Amusingly it projects completion in 2005. Oops, look like their projections were aggressive. Hurry to see the old blog before someone realizes it is still up and before they get around to removing it from the internet.

The old blog shows the location of the airport if you could read the map which is hard to do.

The airport is the nation's only private airport. The airport, I believe, is associated with Glen Patch who is the owner of the Dick Clark Theatre and the '57 Automobile Museum. He is also one of the key principals behind Branson Creek.

The new webpage for the Branson Airport is bound at http://bransonair.net/

Brokerbelle and I went hunting for the airport and it was not particularly easy to fine. It is continguous to the Branson Creek property.

We finally located the airport.

Above I have posted photographs seeing it from the East on little roads off of Highway 65.

But here is how you can really see it.

Head south on Highway 65. Go into Arkansas (yes, Arkansas). Turn East on Highway 14 and go to old Springfield Road. Turn north on Old Springfield Road. It turns into JJ. On your left (west side) will be the airport. After seeing the airport continue on JJ to J. At J Highway turn back West and you can work your way back to Downtown Branson and Branson Landing.

Above I have also posted pictures of the work being done on the Airport as seen from Highway J.

The new blog on the airport says that they are willing to sell the airport name. Pay enough and you can have the airport named after yourself. Now that is what I call good old fashioned American capitalism.

Happy Hunting!

Thanks for the update on the airport. Has anyone heard which airlines are going to be serving this new airport? I live in Chicago and would like to see SWA, or mainline AA or UAL go in there. The commuters that fly into SGF from Chicago are both cramped regional jets and the airfare is way overpriced.

Anonymous: I do not know for sure what airlines will sign up for the new airport nor do I know if there will be flights from Chicago. You might link to an old U.S. map on the early Branson airport site at
http://www.bransonair.net/passenger.htm.
Note the cities with stars and the percentages showing where guests come from. HarleyDad
